ASQ Scioto Valley Subsection
tours FPE's Athens plastics facility

Members of the Scioto Valley Subsection, American Society for Quality (ASQ), traveled to the Athens area March 14, 2000, for their monthly membership dinner program meeting. The evening featured a quality-related presentation and tour of the Florida Production Engineering (FPE) molded plastics manufacturing facility, followed by dinner at the Nelsonville Ramada Inn and Conference Center.

FPE supplies precision injection molded and painted plastic trim components to the automotive industry through five plants in Florida, Ohio and Alabama. Its product lines include wheel trim, door panels, air bag covers, taillight and headlight housings, instrument panel components and bezels. FPE is a wholly owned subsidiary of EGI Incorporated of Dayton, Ohio. Its other Ohio plants are at Circleville and Marion.

In the top left photo, Plant Manager Mike Poindexter, an ASQ member affiliated with the Columbus Section, discusses FPE's quality program and use of test jig fixtures to Quality Consultant Bob Kefgen, Pamela Sperling (pending ASQ member from Wastren), Bonnie Spencer (Bechtel Jacobs) and Don Spencer (guest).

The next photo down the page shows Poindexter (at right) and the other FPE tour guides. They are Nancy McKee, quality supervisor; and Ryan Copp, engineering liaison.

At top right, Poindexter discusses inspection points with SVS member John Bellows (USEC).
