The staff of Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth, hosted this year's ASQ Scioto Valley Subsection "Quality In Health Care" dinner program. The date was Tuesday, April 11, 2000.
Following a splendid meal provided by the SOMC catering staff and dietician, Dr. Kendall Stewart, Director of Medical Staff, welcomed the group to SOMC. Becky Hall (top left), Director of Quality, then provided a very interesting discussion of the elements of health care quality at SOMC.
The Scioto Valley Subsection intends to address "Quality in Health Care" annually as part of its program schedule. Scioto Valley also intends to provide a structure for local area health care administrators and quality professionals to network with others in their field, benchmark with other health care facilities and organizations, and further hone their skills in the quality profession.
Those in the audience (top right photo) included Rich Biehle, a quality consultant recently retired from Marathon Ashland Petroleum and a newly appointed Director of the Scioto Valley Subsection; and Bob Lawton, the Manager of the Safety, Safeguards & Quality Organization for the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC). Lawton is the 120th ASQ member to indicate intent to be affiliated with the new Scioto Valley Section and represents USEC's Sustaining Membership in ASQ.
Those in the bottom photo include (at left) Pam Nichols and Donna Wamsley from the Veterans' Administration Medical Center near Chillicothe. Sue Lashbrook and John Nemeth are in the background. John is a USEC quality staff member and a recently certified CQA. At right in the photo are Sandra and Tom Hester. Tom recently retired from USEC and serves as the SVS Education Chair.
