His areas of expertise include: leadership, strategic planning, team dynamics, managing change, performance management, and executive coaching. Guy is an accomplished speaker and has frequently delivered keynote addresses for Fortune 500 organizations such as GTE, Sprint, and the Department of Defense. In 1985, Mr. Greco established and managed Greco Enterprises, a consulting firm specializing in organizational development. Guy is a published author. His first book, “Strategic Business Principles” is founded on the Virtual CEO* Organization Dynamic Model. DIRECTIONS: The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District Headquarters at 502 Eighth Street (at the corner of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue) in downtown Huntington, West Virginia. A parking garage is located at Eighth Street and Third Avenue. There is also on-street parking, and a private parking lot near the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers building. However, the Section recommends use of the parking garage. A map indicating the downtown Huntington sites is on the Scioto Valley Section's web site at http://www.asqsvs.org/images/May_meeting_map.gif. In downtown Huntington, Fifth Avenue is one-way going east, and Third Avenue is one-way traveling west. Fourth Avenue, in the middle, is a two-way street. Participants coming from Ohio should enter Huntington using the Robert C. Byrd (Sixth Street) bridge from the middle of Chesapeake, Ohio. Upon entering Huntington, turn left on either Fourth Avenue or Fifth Avenue, drive two blocks to Eighth Street, turn left again and proceed to the parking garage at Third Avenue. Proceed to walk two blocks to the Huntington District Headquarters. Participants from West Virginia and Kentucky locations outside of Huntington should use the Fifth Street exit from Interstate 64 and then proceed downtown. Go to the main entrance of the Huntington District Headquarters building at 502 Eighth Street to register. Sperling CANDIDATE PROFILES Section Chair -- John Shewbrooks Held various management positions in Quality Assurance including Quality Systems Manager, Internal Audit Manager, and Environmental Restoration QA Manager. Twenty-two years Nuclear Experience at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Twenty years of QA experience in various areas including Purchasing, Environmental Protection, Waste Management, Maintenance, and Chemical Processing. Bachelor of Science Degree, Industrial Technology, College of Engineering. Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee. Charter member of the ASQ Scioto Valley Section. Treasurer -- R. Douglas Scott Doug Scott has worked in the Quality arena for about thirty years starting with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio in a vinyl films and flooring plant. He transferred to Goodyear Atomic Corp in 1976 and moved to Tennessee where he earned his ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certificate. He moved to Chillicothe in 1982 and served in various Quality and Environmental assignments with Goodyear and it's successors until retirement in 1999. Doug earned his ASQ Certified Quality Auditor certificate in 2000. Doug is currently employed by Wastren, Inc. in QA/QC. Doug has been active in the Scioto Valley Section since its inception. He was a member of the original steering committee and Arrangements Chair for the Sub-section. He was elected as Secretary for the Section in 2000 and appointed Treasurer in 2001 to fill a position vacated by a transfer. Secretary -- Pamela A. Sperling Pamela A. Sperling works as the QA/QC Officer for WASTREN, Inc. at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon. Ohio. Pamela has been with WASTREN for two years, prior to that she worked as a Senior Environmental Engineer for Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC, Lockheed Martin and Martin Marietta at PORTS since 1994. Previous work experience includes work on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, Florida Public Service Commission, Florida Department of Environmental Regulation, Clemson University Hydraulic Research Labs, American Society of Civil Engineers, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. She holds a BSCE, MSEnE, MSEnvMgt, and an MBA in addition to ASQ certifications for CQA and CQM. Pamela also holds a Florida PE. Pamela joined the ASQ Executive Committee as the Membership Chairman and this past year stepped into the position of Secretary mid year to fill an opening on the EC. Vice Chair -- Sheryl L. Morris Meyer Ms. Sheryl L. Morris Meyer is Chief, Customer Service Center, for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District. Ms. Morris Meyer’s worked in the performance-excellence arena as an examiner with the Department of Army and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for both the President’s Quality Award Program and Army Communities of Excellence. She’s been a program director, author, and editor of Baldrige-type applications for the Huntington District, which was a finalist for the 2001 President’s Quality Award. In addition, Ms. Morris Meyer is a Certified Quality Improvement Associate with the American Society for Quality. Ms. Morris Meyer is a first-year graduate of the Huntington District’s Leadership Intern Program and a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She’s a member of the American Society for Quality, International Training in Communication, Society of American Military Engineers, and Association for Women in Science. She also serves as a member of the editorial board of The Herald-Dispatch, Huntington’s local daily publication. Vice Chair -- George W. EXAMINATION PROCTORS NEEDED In order to provide improved service to all of our members, taking future certification examinations, we are expanding the number of examination centers from one to four over the next 12 months. Our plans are to have centers in the Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Jackson and Ashland/Huntington areas. To accomplish this plan, we need to expand the number of qualified examination proctors we have from three to 5 or more. Top serve as a proctor, you have to possess a current ASQ certification in any area, and be willing to work approximately 4-5 hours each quarter. Proctors receive .5 RU for each examination they participate in, and 1.5 RU for being an active member of the SVS Certification Committee. The only limitation being, that you may not sit for any exam within 12 months of proctoring that specific exam. For example an individual planning to sit for the CQE examination may not proctor the CQE exam for 12 months prior to sitting for the examination.
